Coates Hire Ice Sculpting at Surat Basin Energy & Mining Expo 2012
26 June 2012
This year’s Surat Basin Mining & Energy Expo was held on 20 - 21st June in Toowoomba. This annual event is designed to support the Queensland resources industry while providing an excellent environment for businesses to network, market and make industry contacts.
Coates Hire’s presence at the event focused not only on showcasing the specialised gear utilised by the mining & energy companies but also the people and solutions-based service delivery strengths we posses to make every job a success.
An exciting feature of Coates Hire’s stand was a huge custom ice sculpture. On day 1 of the event, giant blocks of ice were delivered using our forklifts. Over the space of the day, we then used chainsaws and other carving tools and equipment to create a giant 2.5m high x 3m wide thumbs up!
Attracting much interest and – excuse the pun – helping to ‘break the ice’ with the crowd, the sculpture was used to highlight that with Coates Hire – ‘there’s no challenge too big’.
'The installation gave us a chance to build something over the course of the two-day event. We wanted to create a challenge, demonstrating how our tools and know-how will always get the thumbs up' noted Richard Greenwood, Sales & Marketing Manger - North.
