Coates Hire Racing and Nick Percat are delighted to welcome Pirtek Fluid Systems to the 2013 Carrera Cup championship on the Team BRM entry.
Pirtek have been synonymous with Australian motorsport for over a decade. In fact, this year Pirtek celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Pirtek Falcon’s first V8 Supercar Championship driven by Marcos Ambrose.
The Coates Hire/Pirtek Carrera will debut the Pirtek livery at round three held at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend, May 25th – May 26th.
The upcoming round of the Carrera Cup is the headline act at the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival, an exclusive all Porsche event that includes the Porsche Concours d’Elegance and Porsche Show ‘n’ Shine.
Nick Percat and Rodney Jane will share the driver’s seat of the Coates Hire/Pirtek Porsche in 2 x 60 minute races to be held over the weekend.
Percat, a former Bathurst winner, is currently enjoying a successful rookie season having captured pole position for the first two championship rounds, finishing 2nd three times and third twice.
Percat is currently placed 3rd overall in his inaugural Carrera Cup season.
For Jane, it’s a return to familiar territory having raced in Porsche Carrera Cup for several seasons before moving on to V8 Supercars.
Team BRM held a successful test day last week at a cold and wet Phillip Island with Percat and Jane posting very competitive times.
Nick Percat: “The Phillip Island test was good with plenty of laps in the rain. It was also good for Rod to get plenty of laps in those conditions as you learn so much about the characteristics of the car and you never know what might happen with the weather on the weekend.
“We haven’t had to change anything in the car, as our driving positions are identical. I am really happy to have Rod on board and very confident we will have a good showing.
“I am delighted to welcome Pirtek on board for the rest of the season and it’s great to have another major Australian corporation supporting us alongside Coates Hire and Morris Finance.”
Rodney Jane: “It was nice to get back into a car that has a different grip level and handles very differently to a V8 Supercar, so it was good. This is my first time back at the Island in 5 years and it’s a track I really enjoy, so it’s nice to come down and have a drive around.
“I’m really looking forward to the Rennsport event and was lucky enough that Nick asked me to drive with him. “It’s the first time I’ve driven one of these new Cup cars and it’s definitely a step up from the 997.
“I haven’t been to Sydney Motorsport Park for a few years, but it’s another track I enjoy and I’m looking forward to getting back there as well.”
Jeremy Hill, Group Manager, Strategic Marketing - Coates Hire: “We have enjoyed a successful business association with Pirtek over many years and look forward to continuing that on the race tracks of Australia as we support Nick Percat in the 2013 Carrera Cup Championship.”
Rod Chapman, General Manager Sales & Marketing - Pirtek Fluid Systems: “We are thrilled to be in a position to continue our association with motorsport and more importantly excited at the opportunity to support a young rising star in Nick Percat.
“Pirtek has always looked to assist the development of young talent whether it be in motorsport or other sports and we are looking forward to seeing the Coates Hire/Pirtek Porsche on the track for the 1st time with Pirtek livery at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
“We also get to partner with long time business associates in Coates Hire, so overall, we are extremely pleased to be involved for the 2013 Carrera Cup Championship.”
