Coates Hire Teams With Percat For Fujitsu Series
17 March 2011
NICK Percat’s assault on the 2011 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series has been boosted with the news that his #222 Commodore will carry Coates Hire sponsorship for the seven-round series.
The South Australian, who begins his title challenge this weekend on home soil in Adelaide, said that the signing of a major sponsor for the full series helps him focus more on his actual driving.
“When Bruce Stewart (Commercial Manager) from Walkinshaw Racing rang me with the news of the deal being done, I felt a lot of weight off my shoulders,” Percat told BigPond Sport.
“It’s great to be associated with such a well known company as Coates Hire and having them and Walkinshaw Racing supporting me should make for a good year.
“Compared to this time last year, it’s a very different scenario but one that is definitely better.”
Percat’s car – the ex-HRT chassis that won Bathurst in 2009 in the hands of Will Davison and Garth Tander – will compete under the Coates Hire Racing banner for the full season.
The former Formula Ford champion finished fourth in last year’s Fujitsu Series in his rookie year and made his V8 Supercars Championship debut alongside Andrew Thompson in a Bundaberg Red Commodore at Phillip island’s L&H 500.
He is among 27 entries for the opening round of the Fujitsu Series with first practice to be held on the Adelaide Parklands circuit today.
