HISWAY CONSTRUCTION - SHORING SOLUTION
30 September 2014
When Hisway Construction won the project to construct a circular water storage tank for Shoalhaven Water at St Anne’s Road in Nowra, they turned to the experts at Coates Hire to come up with a unique shoring solution to support the construction of the 12m Diameter x 4m deep tank excavation. Coates Hire Engineering and Technical Team designed a unique way of supporting the excavation that would traditionally be constructed in a square arrangement.
Coates Hire Engineering designed a shoring alternative never seen before in Australia, using the Hydraulic Mega Brace perimeter shoring system to form a six-sided excavation around the tank, essentially cutting off the corners of the traditional square shape to save the amount of excavated material and reduce expensive backfill costs whilst at the same time providing a clear working area in which the circular storage tank could be constructed.
The six-way expanding shoring frames were installed to form a 16.6m face to face hexagon shape providing 2m of clear space around the tank.
Members of the local Coates Hire team fully supported the installation of shoring to enable rapid installation of the system keeping Hisway ahead of schedule and well within budgets.Dylan O’Brien, Project Manager for Hisway Commented:
“This is the first time we have worked with this Unique Shoring product and we were very impressed by the ease of installation and the support we got from the Coates Hire engineering and technical Team. We have saved money using this method and have finished the programme ahead of scheduled with our client very happy with our performance on this project. We will not hesitate to call in the experts at Coates hire to help us on our future projects.”
