Coates Hire’s earthmoving and compaction fleet is the largest in Australia.
National Product Manager, Earthmoving, Compaction and Trucks Steve Holz says it is the variety and depth of the Coates Hire product range that makes a difference.
“For instance, in our compaction category our equipment ranges from a small 55 kilogram vibrating plate compactor up to a 27 tonne vibratory roller.
“So we have the capability to supply the needs of a home handyman through to a local landscaper, up to our largest national civil earthmoving customers building highways and airports.”
Coates Hire has specialist compaction equipment for those hard to manage sites, especially in restrictive areas where manoeuvrability and power are needed.
No matter what surface, space or project, there are Coates Hire solutions that deliver good depth effects, high maximum speeds and durability and safety.
“What makes Coates Hire different is the diversity of the range,” Holz says. “Our fleet also includes a broad range of tools and attachment to suite specific applications and our maintenance services teams are on call, whatever your on-site needs.
“In our earthmoving range we can supply a versatile mini excavator that is suitable for a wide range of tasks across the work site. Mini excavators are very popular machines in our range.
“They are high performing, easy to use and can be coupled with a variety of work tools for digging footings, and they are perfect for utility trenching, digging drainage ditches, backfilling, levelling and for demolition work.
“At the other end of the scale we can supply a range of excavators up to 35 tonnes, with a variety of work tools that can be utilised for many different applications. These have a dig depth of up to 6.5 metres.”
Holz says that the product range and the Coates Hire regional footprint of more than 230 branches across the country makes a big difference.
“In addition we have product specialists in earthmoving and compaction around the country and they offer expert advice. They can also answer any query a customer might have and also provide a solution for our customers.
“Our product specialists can chat to customers or visit construction sites to ensure they get the right machine for the task and our product specialists are also backed up by the branch network teams.”
Coates Hire is now offering the latest machine control GPS positioning and guidance technology as optional extras with the grader, excavator and compaction fleets. This GPS technology is also offered as a kit that can be fitted to customer owned machines.
“This technology greatly improves the efficiency of the machine and full installation and operator training is available,” according to Holz.
Laser equipped motor graders and excavators can deliver accurate blade control with optional cross slope control. For example, global positioning system-equipped excavators that deliver 20—30 millimetre vertical accuracy are available.
It is just a matter of uploading the digital design into the in-cab display for complex designs and blind digging such as dredging. Optional tilt bucket display is also available to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the excavator.
“We can also supply compaction monitoring capabilities for our rollers to increase efficiency and accuracy of the task and our customers are starting to appreciate the benefit of this new technology,” he explains.
“For instance, it allows a grader to operate to a much greater degrees of accuracy. As an example a GPS equipped motor grader can operate with 20—30mm vertical accuracy and a universal tracking system (UTS) equipped motor grader can operate with 6mm vertical accuracy. Support, training and calibration for our machine control options are available from our teams.
“This machine control technology delivers real benefits and efficiencies for our customers,” says Holz.
