Coates Hire’s new WetSep water treatment system is passing field trials with flying colours, the environment and our clients are set to be the real winners with the introduction of this exciting product.
The WetSep water treatment system performed exceptionally well in the field test, where it was used to treat continuous flows of contaminated ground water as well as treating acid sulphate ground water.
All contaminants were successfully lowered to below the discharge requirements set by the trialling client, all in one unit and all in one pass through the unit, with WetSep being given all the ticks on the application to treat and remove:
• Suspended solids
• PH adjustment
• Oil and grease
• Heavy metals

“The WetSep system is highly efficient, removing 80 to 88 per cent of suspended solids, oil and grease from influent in the first stage and 99.5 per cent of suspended solids in the second stage.
“It’s also an extremely simple process which is driven by gravity, with no power-reliant parts, so it saves on energy and offers extreme ease of operation and maintenance,” Glen continued. “In fact, with no moving parts in the actual flow path of treatment system, little maintenance and monitoring of internals are required and breakdowns don’t occur.
“The WetSep system’s design also makes it easily transportable, with simple connection of all parts for convenient installation or dismantlement and a compact size which requires only a small space for installation,’’ Glen concluded.
In order to offer superior performance in comparison to conventional and more typically complicated waste water treatment processes, WetSep utilises two essential components in order to create an integrated solution which compacts the physical and chemical enhancement processes into one single unit. These components can then provide an equivalent or better effluent quality, which is efficient and reduces costly energy consumption.
The first component is WetSep’s patented Impinging Stream Reactor (ISR) which has no driven motors in the flow path, reducing the requirement for energy and simplifying the entire system. By combining the process of PH adjustment coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation in one system and precisely engineering the flow path, flow rate, pressure differential and empirical data, WetSep’s ISR completes treatment in one single vessel.
The secondary treatment component is WetSep’s Universal Processing Chamber (UPC), a modular unit designed to accommodate the installation of various secondary treatment systems including lamella plates, coalescing plates and membrane or rapid sand filtration, depending on the specific treatment requirements of a project.
