Nick Percat, in the Coates Hire Racing Commodore is locked in a four-way battle for the 2012 Dunlop Series title, with the final round at Sydney’s Olympic Park street circuit this weekend.
Percat is in top form coming to Sydney, after winning four of the last five races, to charge back into title contention and currently lies second in the series.
The top four drivers in the Dunlop Series, Scott McLaughlin, Percat, Chaz Mostert and Scott Pye are separated by just 82 points with 300 still available.
This weekend sees the Dunlop Series run over two 17-lap races around the narrow and unforgiving Olympic Park street circuit.
Looking towards this weekend Nick said: “Homebush is a normal road during the week, so if it rains, it becomes very slippery with painted lines and oil on the surface. Every year there’s been a shower in either the main game or Dunlop races. Last year we had to change to wet tyres on the grid and then it dried up half way through the race, so that’s the kind of curve ball you can get there.
“Last year we were quite fast there and were leading until the wets gave up on us and we had to settle for second. Hopefully we can snare two wins and that way we’ve put our best effort into winning the championship and its up to the other guys to beat us. There’s going to be a lot of intense racing but if I get two wins, it would be a great way to end the year”.
