A word from Nick Percat: Perth Challenge Preview
2 May 2012
It’s hard to believe that it’s already May and yet we are only just approaching the second round of the Dunlop Series this weekend! That’s the nature of our racing calendar… the first half of our season is pretty spread out but it ramps up from August, particularly when you add in the Sandown and Bathurst endurance events!
The opening round at the Clipsal 500 seems like a distant memory, but our podium result in Adelaide means we head to Barbagallo Raceway placed second in the championship.
Unlike most other Dunlop Series teams, we haven’t done any testing since Adelaide but the Coates Hire team has still been busy working away behind the scenes.
Led by engineer Matt Crawford and mechanic Scott Elms, the boys at Walkinshaw Racing have virtually rebuilt the Coates Hire Commodore in order to give us the best possible chance at victory in Perth.
This will be my second visit to Barbagallo Raceway in a V8 Supercar. I really enjoy racing at the circuit. Being such a short track, (we do a lap in under a minute) you have to get every corner perfect to be on the pace. Last year our pace was strong but we had misfortune, I want to make amends.
