Support for motorsport

Phillip Island in Victoria is acknowledged as one of the world's great racetracks.
For motorsport promoters however Phillip Island is not only difficult logistically because of its location but the weather can be very variable; from tropical to Arctic-like.
For Coates Hire however, supporting the Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island is a challenge to look forward to.
According to Jeremy Hill, Group Manager Marketing, the delivery of events services to the MotoGP in October provides an extension to the long term relationship Coates Hire holds with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
“Coates Hire is proud to partner with such an iconic event and organisation. This international event provides a global audience and showcases the strength Coates Hire holds in both its event services and broader delivery team.”
Hill says that the on-going management of Coates Hire’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality accreditation ensures that the processes are regularly internally and externally audited
“At Coates Hire, safety underpins everything we do –‘it’s at the core of our culture’.”
Daniel Clifton Business Development Manager – Events says despite some of the challenges, “it is fantastic to be involved with the iconic MotoGP event and our staff really enjoy going down there each year”.
“Weather and ground conditions can be quite brutal on site for the bump in/out periods and it can provide our teams with some challenges.”
Clifton says the Coates Hire team currently supply equipment that includes 60 generators, 20 lighting towers, 4 compressors, 213 portable buildings and toilets, 377 crowd control barriers and 251 water-filled barriers.
“Supply involves transport to and from Phillip Island, as well as installation and maintenance of the equipment over the race week.”
In fact, he says, bump In usually commences 2–3 months prior to the event, with bump out taking 3–4 weeks once the event is completed.
“We have three teams of staff who head down to the island to manage their respective products. One team for portable buildings and toilets, one team for generators, lighting towers and compressors and another responsible for the installation of the barriers.”
Coates Hire has an integral role across most premier Australian motorsport categories. As Official Major Sponsor of the V8 Supercars Championship, Coates Hire provides V8 Supercars with all of the essential equipment and services required to successfully stage all V8 Supercars promoted events. V8 Supercars driver Nick Percat is also a Coates Hire Ambassador.
Coates Hire is Official Equipment Hire Supplier to the Australian Grand Prix and for the third year Coates Hire is again naming rights sponsor and official supplier of Australia's round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in Coffs Harbour.
