2015 marks two decades of The Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne's Albert Park and Coates Hire is integral to the success of this global event.
Coates Hire supports the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix as Official Equipment Hire Supplier and Dan Clifton, Major Projects Manager (Event) explains that Coates Hire's role is big, really big.
According to Clifton, the Coates Hire equipment supplied includes 400 portable buildings and amenities, 185 generators, 100 lighting towers, five compressors and 13 track recovery cranes with operators.

for the past decade ensuring a deep wealth of knowledge and relationship with the corporation.
“It’s a massive undertaking but our sheer size and capability means there wouldn’t be many others in our industry who could deliver the material and expertise needed,” says Clifton.
Coates Hire arrives at the site at Melbourne’s Albert Park early in January to begin installation of equipment and the team doesn’t completely leave the site until April, He says the sheer numbers and the quantity of equipment required for the event is his major challenge.
“We have to ensure the equipment is up to the standard we require when we bring it in from a wide range of sources.”
According to Clifton the key challenges for Coates Hire are:
• sourcing the large amounts of equipment required
• resourcing the build and managing the impact on day-to-day business
• juggling equipment with the Avalon Airshow which occurs every two years
