Hi everyone!

It’s a busy time for Supercars, as we head into back-to-back race weekends for the first time in about five years!  We’re backing up from the Tasmania SuperSprint last weekend and heading straight to the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit in Victoria.

It’s arguably the best permanent-built race circuit in the country and I always enjoy driving there.  I also count it as a local round because it’s not far away from home!

It’s also awesome to get back in the car so soon. I’m sure every driver would agree that we don’t get to drive the cars as much as we’d like, so hopping back in the car after only four days off is great.

I think the key focus for the weekend will be tyres. The Phillip Island circuit has a lot of long loaded corners, which is why we see tyre failures in any category there. It’s a big compromise between car speed and handling, versus how aggressive you can be on the tyres. 

The aim is to optimise car speed while also looking after the tyres. 

Tasmania was a good weekend for us, we scored two top-ten finishes with a best of 7th place in the Sunday race. I’m hoping we can take the gains we made in Tassie and translate them into results at Phillip Island.

I’ve had four top 10 finishes in a total of 11 Supercar races there, but I haven’t yet cracked a podium. While I’ve had recent top-ten results, we are still a fair way off in terms of outright pace. The aim this weekend is to find some more car speed and close the gap to the frontrunners in terms of outright lap times.

Car 8 will be sporting another new livery for this event, 7 Eleven are on board as the major sponsor. They are new to the sport, and this weekend’s design personally reminds me of some of the old IndyCar liveries. Let me know what you think!
