What is a scissor lift?
Scissor lifts are instantly recognisable in shopping centres and warehouses. The iconic accordion-style extendable scissor configuration provides the ideal support for maintenance and construction work at heights. Rough terrain scissor lifts available at Coates Hire are the heavy duty solution for accessing high areas in almost any situation, thanks to the addition of outriggers and self-levelling functions for working on difficult and uneven ground conditions.
The large work platform provides plenty of support for up to 2 people, making scissor lifts ideal for building and factory fit-outs and any other work where an additional person will speed up progress and achieve superior results. Scissor lifts raise vertically only, although Coates Hire provides models with an extendable work platform so you can position yourself closer to the work at hand. We have both diesel and electric scissor lift models available. Scissor lift advantages include:
Perform work according to WH&S protocol without the need to worry about instability.
The flexible solution for working at heights both indoors and outdoors.
Compact design for practical manoeuvrability in tight spaces.
Conveniently and safely towed when retracted.
How much to hire a scissor lift?
This will depend on the size of scissor lift you require and the number of hire days. Getting an accurate quote is easy at Coates Hire: simply visit your nearest branch in person, call us over the phone, or contact us using the handy online enquiry form. We aim to get you the best deal on reliable equipment that has been thoroughly checked and serviced, ready for immediate use. For an unbeatable price to get your building or maintenance project underway, contact Coates Hire today.
Do you need a ticket to operate a scissor lift?
You will require a ticket to operate an elevated work platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more, and Coates Hire can help you become an accredited operator. We offer 2-3 day elevated work platform (EWP) training courses that deliver the skills and knowledge required to operate heavy duty scissor lifts, including national EWP accreditation for working anywhere in Australia. Course attainments include:
Compliance with WH&S legislation
Risk assessment and hazard control
Appropriate loading of work platforms
Emergency procedures and safety equipment
Elevate and operate the work platform safely
Work planning and routine checking
On completion of the course you will receive a statement of attainment for the following unit of competency:
– Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11m or more).
How is a scissor lift used?
Scissor lifts are noticeable across wide-ranging workplace applications including construction, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, warehousing/storage, and much more. They are used for loading, unloading, inspections, installation, observation and even animal rescue. Many workplaces and work functions simply wouldn't exist without versatile scissor lifts.
How high will a scissor lift go?
At Coates Hire, we supply the widest possible range of scissor lifts and other work platforms for every purpose. Our Diesel scissor lifts include small and large heavy duty models with a maximum platform height of 16.1M, while our largest Coates Hire electric scissor lifts extend to 12.1M, with wide deck options available. Scissor lifts rise vertically, allowing you to safely work using a stable centre of gravity. We understand that not all jobs require maximum height extension, so if your task requires a stable work platform at a lower height, our 4.5M electric scissor lift could be just what you are looking for.
