Hi everyone!

We head to Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend for a very cool concept; the first Supercars night race in Australia for over twenty years! We raced under lights in Abu Dhabi in 2011, but the Sydney SuperNight 300 will be an entirely new experience for the Supercars category.

There’s a practice session on Friday evening, which will be the only opportunity to simulate the night-time conditions before Saturday night’s 300-kilometre race. No doubt our engineers will be working super hard in that 40-minute session to find the optimum set up for our cars.

Typically at Sydney Motorsport Park the cooler the conditions, the faster the track is. The circuit at night will require a different set up, and it will be a team effort to learn the cars quickly in the cooler conditions.
The circuit is renowned for huge tyre degradation, so along with a 300km race strategy and the unknowns of racing at night- it’s going to make for a challenging race event for both us drivers and engineers!

I’ve taken some solid life advice and have been eating a lot of carrots. (Mum tells me they make your eyesight better) Conveniently my dogs also love carrots, so the hounds and I have been sharing a carrot occasionally during the day. It’s been a lovely bonding experience.

On a serious note; one race with 300 championship points up for grabs will be tough. I feel that the drivers who aren’t at the top of the championship hunt will have a different approach to this race. We can have bit more of a go, without as much risk in the championship chase.

The event is going to be super exciting for the fans. The first few laps of the race will be very interesting. Hopefully the team have my headlights pointed in the right direction!

I’m really looking forward to getting back to SMP, because the BJR cars were very fast there at the test day at the start of this year. It seems to be a circuit that suits our cars’ set up, so hopefully that translates and puts us in good stead for the weekend.

I have good memories of this circuit too. In 2014 in my rookie Supercar year I got my first-ever podium in a single driver race after a cool battle to the line with Scotty McLaughlin. Here’s hoping for more fun battles under lights this weekend!

Remember, you can follow me on social media for updates across the event.
